Dutch London-based artist Simon Heijdens‘ “Silent Room,” premiered at SXSW 2016, is an interactive art piece designed to emphasize the aural and visual opposite of the festival through sensory deprivation. Students within the Graduate Acoustics Program, Matthew Zeh and Fiona Cheung, served as acoustical designers and consultants for the project. With guidance from Dr. Preston Wilson and material provided by Auralex Acoustics, Matt and Fiona designed an acoustically suspended, decoupled space within a shipping container used to house the art piece.
